Supporting Sheffield Children’s Hospital’s PRIDE OF YORKSHIRE

When Penistone Arts Week began, we always wanted to give something back to the community that makes our town so special. Over the years we’ve supported many local charities and community groups, and this year we’re proud to be supporting Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity – Pride of Yorkshire.

Giving back to our children whilst helping our local children thrive

We have purchased a £950 cub – with the funds going to help the hospital continue to provide our children with unrivalled healthcare – one of 150 cubs that will join 150 lions to celebrate 150 years of Sheffield Children’s.

The sculptures will go on safari across Barnsley, Sheffield, Doncaster and Rotherham, before our very own cub returns home to one of our local schools. What an incredible opportunity for a Penistone school to be part of this nationally recognised campaign!

Schools are invited to take part in a Pride of Place competition, where pupils will design artwork representing Penistone to be painted onto the cub. Designs will be judged by members of Penistone Arts Week, Penistone Arts Collective, and the charity itself.

The winning design will be brought to life during Penistone Arts Week (19–29 March), painted onto the cub by the winning pupils with support from artists from Penistone Arts Collective.

‘BE ON THE HUNT’ BOOK TRAIL

Running alongside this—and keeping the lion theme roaring—our Book Trail this year will focus on books about lions.

There will be 20 clues hidden in shop and café windows around town for children to solve, with the chance to win £50 in book tokens—a fantastic prize to support their creative literacy journey.

Ask your school if they’re running their own local trail too, and your child could win an additional £10 book token.

Organizing Team

Eventure is curated by a small team of designers, researchers, and ecologists who believe that technology must serve the planet — not the other way around. Working between Milan, Nairobi, and São Paulo, the team brings together local knowledge and global collaboration to shape a gathering rooted in care, creativity, and systems thinking.
We don’t just program talks — we curate experiences, relationships, and ideas that grow long after the event ends.
