HOW IT ALL BEGAN

In the Summer of 2017 Chrissie Yates invited Barbara Lee, Councillor David Griffin and Brian Barnsley to discuss a possible Arts event and that’s how Penistone Arts Week began.

Our first Arts week was in the third week of March 2018 when the wonderful Willy Russell (see photo above left with Chrissie) appeared for us at Penistone Paramount. He was introduced by Milly Johnson (shown in the photo above right with Chrissie) and was interviewed by Educating Yorkshire’s Johnny Mitchell.

Willy donated his fee to the Barry Hines statue which added even more delight to all who had planned this event.

Events over the years have seen lan MacMillan, Dai Bradley (of Billy Casper fame), Steve Knightley (of ‘Show of Hands’ fame), all appear at The Paramount.

The committee has now grown to include members from all walks of life each sharing their passion for the arts and bringing it to Penistone whilst showcasing the very best of Penistone’s home grown talent.

“The Arts Week has now become an eagerly anticipated yearly event with more and more of Penistone’s incredibly creative and talented individuals coming forward and displaying their unique talents.”

Organizing Team

Eventure is curated by a small team of designers, researchers, and ecologists who believe that technology must serve the planet — not the other way around. Working between Milan, Nairobi, and São Paulo, the team brings together local knowledge and global collaboration to shape a gathering rooted in care, creativity, and systems thinking.
We don’t just program talks — we curate experiences, relationships, and ideas that grow long after the event ends.
