As part of this annual tradition, the High Street undergoes a metamorphosis, with the coordinated efforts of the Penistone Arts Collective, local artists and local shops, cafes and businesses culminating in a visually stunning display that captivates residents and visitors alike. This initiative goes beyond mere aesthetic enhancement; it symbolizes a shared commitment to cultivating a lively and welcoming atmosphere within our community.

Not only is our High Street a gallery for local artists but Penistone Library joins in too (even though, due to the shrinkage of it’s temporary home near The Town Hall, it’s a much smaller venue) we’re still on display with a unique exhibition featuring our newest members on show.
Cubley Hall is also embracing all things ‘art’ in an exhibition by Penistone Arts Collective.
St John’s Church will be exhibiting all week, alongside the many events Father David and his team are hosting in this superb community and cultural hub.
Our annual programme, which can be found in local shops and cafes from early February onwards, (as well as on our website), includes our map, taking you on a journey of discovery. In the meantime, meet our artists…
2026 – Bigger, Brighter, More Brilliant: Art Events Reaching New Heights!

Our ‘Art In The Windows’ High Street Gallery has gone from strength to strength with an increase year on year and 2026 sees over 40 artists in 41 venues – some in the window, some inside, some solo, some as a pair, a collaboration, and some appearing at least twice, so twice the amount of art to see.
You can meet our talented artists and the diverse range of styles, (the majority of whom are open to commissions) here…
